Your teacher this year is Miss Plumb, supported by the wonderful Miss Conwell.

Please keep visiting our page for information about what is going on in class, photos of us working hard and to see all the wonderful work we have produced.

Please note that PE is on Wednesday and Friday. Children must come to school in their PE kits on these days.

Our Timetable

Please have a look at some of the wonderful activities we have been doing in Year 1.

Trip to Manchester Airport

Year 1 have had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. After reading the book, ‘I Am Enough’ the children created self-portraits to represent themselves, both on the inside and outside. They also created all about me badges and had a hot chocolate whilst listening to a story.

Children's Mental Health Week

We have had lots of fun this week, celebrating Children's Mental Health Week.

They created 'Growing' acrostic poems, planted their own cress seeds and made kites filled with positive messages.

Number Day!

The robots and rockstars in Year 1 have had lots of fun today, completing Buddy’s number challenge. They also practised counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and used tens and ones to represent numbers to 50. Well done Year 1!

Instructions

In English, the children followed a set of instruction to create their own lion mask. They then had a go at writing their own instructions using time conjunctions. Well done Year 1, the lion masks look amazing!

Love to Investigate - How Does It Feel?

As part of our Love to Investigate topic, the children have been exploring the question ‘How does it feel?' They described the properties of ice, shaving foam, whipped cream, baby powder and honey. They also used their senses to describe what was inside the feely boxes.

Hello Yellow Day

Today Year 1 have been celebrating #HelloYellow day. We discussed the importance of looking out for our friends and the characteristics needed to be a resilient superhero. They had lots of fun designing and creating their own resilient superhero masks. You all look amazing!

PE

PE will take place on Wednesday and Friday.  Children must come to school wearing their PE kit.

Our school PE kit is:

- a white t-shirt

- black shorts

- pumps for indoors

- trainers of pumps for outdoors

- plain, black jogging bottoms

Branded sportswear and coloured hoodies should not be worn

Tapestry

Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time in the Foundation Stage. This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record learning and development in and outside of the classroom to create a 'whole' picture of your child.

We ask that you record and share any development in your child's progress, development and learning which we will celebrate in class with your child.

If you have any problems with Tapestry please speak to Miss Plumb who will be happy to help.
