This project allows the children to explore the characteristics and features of polar regions, including the North and South Poles and includes a detailed exploration of the environmental factors that shape and influence them.
Al Sylvester - Explorer
We had a visit from a real life explorer - Al Sylvester, who led an expedition to the South Pole. He was also a team leader with the RAF's Mountain Rescue Service where he was involved in over 400 operational rescues. He talked to us about the conditions he and his team faced whilst in the South Pole and also talked to us about team building and resilience. His presentation was fascinating and he taught us never to give up and aim high.
