"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9)
At St Hilda’s Primary School, we believe in providing opportunities for all children to experience a rich and varied curriculum in which sporting opportunities are balanced and progressive. Our PE curriculum provides children with access to a range of sporting activities to develop their physical and mental well-being, whilst improving their stamina and fitness levels.
Our aims are for all pupils at St Hilda’s to:
- Appreciate and understand the value of physical education and its relationship to a healthy, active lifestyle.
- Participate in a range of sporting activities in order to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills.
- Understand how to improve their own fitness level.
- Monitor their success in sporting challenges and try to improve their ‘personal best.’
- Develop their motor skills in order to participate successfully in a range of sporting activities and games.
- Be able to critically evaluate their own and others’ performances.
- To promote responsible attitudes towards the safety of self in movement, when using equipment and an understanding of the relationship between physical activity and health.
- Understand and use what is taught in EYFS & Key Stage One to make links with Key Stage Two teaching, ensuring that learning builds on previous teaching and is progressive.
