🌈 Welcome to Reception! 🌈

A very warm welcome to our Reception class page!

We are so excited to begin this special part of your child’s school journey with you at St Hilda’s. Our Reception team is Miss Swindell, our class teacher, and the wonderful Mrs Derbyshire, who will be there to support, encourage and care for the children throughout their Reception year.

Reception is such a magical year! It is a time for exploring, discovering, creating, playing, making friends and having lots of fun while learning along the way. We can't wait to watch the children grow in confidence, develop new skills and become curious, independent learners.

We have lots of exciting topics, adventures, special visitors and trips planned throughout the year. There will be plenty of opportunities to get messy, get creative, ask questions, investigate the world around us and, of course, enjoy lots of learning through play! 🧸🎨🔎🌱

Autumn 1 - Marvellous Me!

PE Lesson

We have PE on Friday. The children must come to school wearing their PE kit.

Our school PE kit is:

- a white t-shirt

- black shorts

- pumps for indoors

- trainers of pumps for outdoors

- plain, black jogging bottoms

- navy cardigan/sweatshirt

Branded sportswear and hoodies should not be worn.

Reading Books and Library Books

Reading is very important and we want the children reading as much as possible.

Children must read their reading book at least 3 times and have their reading record signed only then will they be given a new book. Please send your child's book into school everyday so an adult can listen to them read in school.

Your child will also bring home a library book on Thursdays to support reading for pleasure. They will need to return the book the following Thursday. We are so lucky to have our very own Library bus and the children really enjoy getting to visit and choosing their new books.
