Celebrating Harvest - 21.09.20

LI: To know where foods come from and be able to talk about harvest.

The children enjoyed tasting a variety of different fruit from around the world. We discussed where the fruits come from and how they are harvested.

The children also used a range of adjectives to describe the texture, taste, shape and colour of the fruit.

Where does fruit come from? - 28.09.20

LI: I can label where fruits from around the world come from.

Today the children have been learning about harvest and have looked at where fruits from around the world come from.

The children looked at fruit labels and we used Google Earth to see how far the fruit had travelled. We also discussed the importance of being thankful for the food we have available to us all year round.

The meaning of Easter

Year 1 have been exploring the meaning of Easter and the importance of gratitude at this special time. The children have created Thank You letters to a loved one in our RE lesson this week.

Easter Gardens

Year 1 have been learning all about Easter Sunday, working as a team each group created their own Easter garden. They made flowers to represent new life and rolled away the stone to show that Jesus has risen. They all look amazing Year 1!

The children in Year 1 have been comparing the village of Prestwich to the village of Nazareth in RE. They used what they had learnt to create their own model village of Nazareth. Well done Year 1, it looks amazing!

In our RE topic, 'My World, Jesus World', the children in Year 1 have been leaning about Jesus lifestyle and the different types of jobs. The children had lots of fun learning the skill of weaving, creating their own decoration using traditional techniques. They look fantastic Year 1!
