This cycle, we are going to be finding out about rivers.
We will look at where and how a river starts, where it ends and will look closely at the course it takes to get there. We will be looking at features that we might see in a river system and identify where we might find these.
We will be using maps to study a river system and will be using 4 figure grid references to locate features in and around a river.
We will be finding out how rivers change and what causes this.
We are also going to be looking closely at a river that is very close to us here in Prestwich - The River Irwell.
Locating river features
We located major towns and cities along a river. We used Google Maps to help us.
Burrs Country Park - Our fantastic trip where we found out about the River Irwell and why it is so important.
Debating Dams - Are they a good idea or not? We did some research in groups and then debated as a class.
