Year 5

Where's the Maths in That?

The children looked at several images accross the week to see how maths was linked.  They realised maths is involved in most of the things we see and do.

The Daily Challenge - Poppy Placement

The children had to place the poppies (counters) on the grid, avoiding making the four corners of a square anywhere.  They had to see how many counters they could fit on the grid doing this.

Sudoku

Learning where to place the numbers in a Sudoku grid was great fun.

Challenge Circuits

As well as recalling multiplication facts quickly, children had to complete rigourus circuits of activities.  Luckily, they got to cool down at the end with some meditation and breathing techniques.

The children used their mathematical skills alongside movement and mindfulness in this very active and competitive competition linked to multiplication and division.

England Rocks - TTRS

The children had to use their knowledge of the properties of numbers and the formal written methods to solve several problems.  Each time they solved a problem, they received part of the code to escape the room!

Numbrella Escape Room

The children had to use their knowledge of the properties of numbers and the formal written methods to solve several problems.  Each time they solved a problem, they received part of the code to escape the room!
