Float

This half term we have been looking a a story called Float by Daniel Miyares.

In the story, a little boy takes a boat made of newspaper out for a rainy-day adventure. The boy and his boat dance in the downpour and play in the puddles, but when the boy sends his boat floating down a gutter stream, it quickly gets away from him.

So of course the little boy goes on the hunt for his beloved boat-and when the rain lets up, he finds himself on a new adventure altogether.

We have started using The Write Stuff by Jane Considine in our writing and so far, we LOVE it!

We have been learning how to use sentence stacking to write a class narrative and we are going to start to write our own based on the story.

Have a look at some of the work that we have done so far.

Experience Day 2 - Hot chocolate and blankets.

We had an experience day to help us to generate ideas and vocabulary that we could use in our sentence stacking. We brought in blankets and had hot chocolate and imagined what it would be like if we had come home, cold and wet and how we might feel when we were given something to warm us up.

We used our senses to describe how the blanket felt and also to describe the taste, smell and feeling that we got from a lovely hot chocolate (with cream and marshmallows!).
